About the Venue:

Government (Autonomous) College, Angul is a premier institution of Dept. of Higher Education, Odisha. It was established in 1957, by Dr. Hare Krushna Mahatab, the then Chief Minister of the State. The college has UG, PG & some professional courses running under its credit. Each year, more than 3000 students are admitted under Science, Arts and Commerce streams. The college is only a kilometres away from National Highway-55 an important lifeline that runs in the middle of the town.

Since the laying down of the foundation stone of the college, the physics department serves the needs of the students at Undergraduate & Postgraduate level. Faculties in the department are not only engaged in the overall development of the students and the college, but also are actively involved in research activities.

Angul district has the unique advantage of being located in the central part of Odisha and thereby it serves as a vital cultural link between the Eastern and Western parts of the State. District of Angul occupies a prominent place in the industrial Map of the country with nearby industries such as NALCO, Jindal, Bhusan (TATA), MCL, NTPC, TTPS etc. to its credit. This offers ample opportunities for Industry Academia Interface.

To relax and re-energize from the busy schedule of day to day activities, Angul city has its own ECO PARK within the city. The city is also surrounded by sprawling natural beauties and tourist attractions such as Tikarapada (Satkosia George Sanctuary) - famous for gharials, Deulajhari hot spring, Rengali Dam Project, Derjang Water Reservoir Project. Along with these natural beauties the Angul district is famous for its Budhi Thakurani Temple, Saila Srikshetra - Jagannath Temple and Maa Hingula Temple (Talcher).
