About the Department

History is a core subject in Arts stream at the undergraduate level. Teaching of History at undergraduate level started in 1959. Currently the subject is taught at UG level. COurses in History at UG levle are taught according to the state model syllabus prescribed by the Higher Education Department. Now the department has 48 Honours seats at undergraduate level. The subject is one of the sought-after disciplines among the Arts subjects.
