P.G Department of Odia is an old and premier department of the College. The Under Graduate class with Odia Honours was established in 1960. The Post Graduation class was opened in 1980 with 32 seats. The department follows the syllabus of our affiliating university i.e. Utkal University, Vani vihar, Bhubaneswar for PG classes. For UG classes, the state model syllabus prescribed by the Higher Education Department, Odisha is followed. Being one of the pioneer departments of Odia Language and Literature we offer the U.G and P.G Courses which consist of; - History of the Odia Language and Literature, All aspects of Literature, Criticism, Translation, Research Methodology, Applied Linguistics, Linguistics, Computerisation of Odia/Use of Computer in Odia /Odia Language in Computer, Preparation of Projects for UG classes and Dissertation and Seminar Papers for P.G Classes. The department organizes seminars at all levels in collaboration with Sahitya Academy, UGC, Odia Bhasa Pratisthana etc. The department conducts Radhamohan Garnaik Lecture Series Every Year successfully. It is the glory of this department to publish the Department Research Bulletin ‘ABABODHA’ (ଅବବୋଧ) every year. The P.G Department of Odia is presently a Centre of Attraction in the field of Odia Language and Literature and students from all over Odisha apply for a seat to attain their academic ambitions.
