About the Department

The Department of English, Government Autonomous College, Angul came into existence in the year 1960. It has a sanctioned faculty strength of five. There are sixteen seats on offer to undergraduate students every year. The department follows the CBCS pattern and State Model Syllabus prescribed by the Higher Education Department, Odisha. The aim of the department is to create a pool of trained human manpower, who have a love for English literature and Language. Keeping the ever-growing demand of English in mind, the department trains students in presentation skills, group discussion skills, interview skills, writing skills and many more so that they can face the challenges of the future. Seminars and webinars are regularly organised for greater exposure of students. Many of our alumni have been selected to join State and National Institutions of repute for higher studies. Many of them have joined the teaching cadre, spreading education among the future generations.
