The Department of Zoology was established in 1960 and since then the Department has been imparting teaching and training students in B.Sc. It also conducts various co-curricular activities in areas of Zoology. Introduction of M.Sc in Zoology in 2015 has shown remarkable progress over the years in teaching and research. Our faculty and students continue to contribute towards updating and upgrading the curriculum. At present, courses are offered in B.Sc. Honours, Electives in Zoology and M.Sc. in Zoology. Students passing from the Department with their B. Sc or M. Sc degree are now placed in different leading academic and research Institutes all over India. Currently, The Department is functioning with only 04 members of sanctioned teaching post for both UG and PG with intake capacity of 60 for Graduation and 16 for Post Graduation. Besides teaching, many extra-curricular activities like singing, dancing and quiz are undertaken in the department. The teaching process focuses in developing the ability of students to understand, communicate, analyse emerging discipline of Life science. It also helps in development of research aptitude, scientific temper and attitude in Zoology without deviating from ethics. The Department aims to be a center of excellence in the field of biodiversity.
